Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) issued a statement regarding the second assassination attempt on President Donald Trump.

“I’m thankful President Trump was unharmed and the Secret Service and local law enforcement were able to apprehend the would-be assassin. Any kind of political violence has no place in America. After yet another attempt on the life of the Republican presidential candidate, it’s clear that we need more than sentiments, we need actions. We must actually tone down the political rhetoric in this election, stop suggesting the election of any one person is an existential threat to the country, and spreading conspiracy theories. President Trump must also receive the same level of protection President Biden is receiving. I will be working with my colleagues to urge the Secret Service to take this necessary step.”
