Mark Takano, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 39th district since 2013, has recently expressed concerns through a series of tweets regarding various issues related to the Department of Defense and the current administration. His comments touch on topics ranging from historical representation in military narratives to national security and employment rights.

On March 18, 2025, Takano addressed an issue involving his family's history with the 442nd Regiment. He stated, "My family's story of service in the 442nd Regiment has been republished on the Army's website. This is a part of a disturbing trend of erasing and downgrading the stories of diverse servicemembers who put country first. I am calling for accountability in the Department of Defense…”.

Later that day, he questioned former President Trump's impact on global safety by dismantling key institutions. In his tweet at 15:22 UTC, he wrote, "Trump promised that the world would be safer with him as President. How is dismantling the U.S. Institute of Peace helping to achieve that?".

In another tweet posted at 17:00 UTC on March 18, Takano commented on legal proceedings concerning employment rights under government agencies. He noted that "Nearly all probationary employees who were illegally fired by DOGE have been reinstated. When Courts uphold the law, and we keep the pressure on this Administration, we will win for the American people."
