On May 24, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41), the Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, issued the following statement on the nomination of Air Force General Charles Brown Jr. to serve as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff:
“I congratulate Air Force General Charles Brown Jr. on being nominated to serve as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. General Brown brings an incredible record of service and leadership into the role as our highest ranking military officer. While leading the Air Force, General Brown demonstrated an understanding that we must innovate and equip our warfighters with the next generation of resources to secure our nation. Failure to surpass the technological advancements of China and other adversaries will be catastrophic for our country. General Brown must be focused on maintaining our edge in the air, land, sea and space, and not be distracted by other issues that don’t ultimately result in the enhanced lethality of U.S. forces on the battlefield.”
