On April 26, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) voted along with a majority (217 to 215) of the House of Representatives to approve the Limit, Save, Grow Act, H.R. 2811. The legislation would lift the debt ceiling into next year and limit Washington's runaway spending, save taxpayer dollars, and grow the American economy.
“Today, House Republicans took the responsible step of approving a bill to raise the debt ceiling in conjunction with restoring some fiscal sanity into our budget process,” said Rep. Calvert. “The Limit, Save, Grow Act will save taxpayers nearly $5 trillion by returning spending to FY2022 funding levels and rescinding $60 billion in unspent COVID funding. Despite the rhetoric coming out of the White House the past few months, this Republican proposal does not cut Social Security, Medicare, defense, or veterans funding. Congress will continue to prioritize our veterans and seniors, national security, and middle-class America. It’s time for Senate Democrats and President Biden to come to the negotiating table. Defaulting on our national debt and doing nothing about our fiscal crisis puts us on a path where every federal program will be jeopardized, and our economy will suffer devastating harm. What are Democrats waiting for?”
