Assemblyman Bill Essayli issued a statement following Elon Musk's announcement to relocate the headquarters of X and SpaceX to Texas. This decision comes after Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 1955 into law.

"Elon Musk pointed to Governor Newsom signing AB 1955 yesterday as the 'final straw' that pushed him to relocate SpaceX and X to Texas, and I don’t blame him," Essayli stated. "Radical gender ideologues who control our State Capitol cost us thousands of jobs and millions in tax revenue–and they show no sign of stopping."

Essayli further criticized Sacramento Democrats, stating, "Democrats in Sacramento are to blame for the ongoing attack on families, businesses, and common sense across California. I have committed my tenure in the Legislature to fight against the radical Democrat agenda that is pushing leaders like Elon Musk to leave our once Golden State. We must restore common sense in Sacramento."

The background provided by Essayli highlights ongoing legislative battles over parental rights. He authored AB 1314, which aims to ensure parents are informed if their child requests a gender change on official school records. However, legislative Democrats refused to hear AB 1314, and Attorney General Bonta has responded by suing school districts across the state.

AB 1955 codifies the authority of the government to withhold such information from parents.
