Woman killed in Palm Desert after vehicle-pedestrian collision under investigation

A woman died after being struck by a vehicle on the morning of March 3, 2026, in Palm Desert. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded at 7:40 a.m. to the intersection of Portola Avenue and Frank Sinatra Drive following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian.

When authorities arrived, they found an adult female in the roadway with serious injuries. CalFire medical personnel transported her to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The Traffic Reconstruction Team from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station took over the investigation. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Initial findings indicate that alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in this incident.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld until her family can be notified. The investigation is ongoing and no further information has been released at this time.
