In November 2025, deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a school in the 23000 block of Cougar Canyon Road, Moreno Valley, after receiving a report about inappropriate contact between a Campus Supervising Officer and a student. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit took over the investigation due to the nature of the allegations. Authorities identified Richard Feliciano Romero, a 51-year-old resident of Perris, as the suspect.
On December 11, 2025, investigators from the Special Victims Unit, assisted by the Perris Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Marcheta Place in Perris. According to officials, “While at the residence, Romero was taken into custody without incident.” He was later booked at Cois Byrd Detention Center on charges including sodomy by force, solicitation of child sexual abuse material, and several other related offenses.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details are available at this time,” authorities stated. The Special Victims Unit believes there may be additional victims and is asking anyone with information to contact Investigator J. Lee at (951) 955–1718 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at 951–776–1099.
