The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Jurupa Valley Station, conducted a DUI and driver license checkpoint in Jurupa Valley on December 12 and 13, 2025. The operation took place at Limonite Avenue and Spectrum Center between 9:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
During the checkpoint, deputies screened 558 vehicles. According to Sergeant Rafael Lopez, “1 field sobriety test (FST) was conducted; 1 driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol; 1 driver was arrested for four outstanding warrants (one for driving under the influence and three for driving on a suspended license); 3 vehicles were stored or impounded; 14 citations were issued for driving without a valid driver license; 1 citation was issued for driving with a suspended driver license; [and] 5 citations were issued for miscellaneous violations.”
Checkpoint locations are chosen based on data from impaired-driving collisions. The department states that the primary goal of these checkpoints is to increase public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from local roads.
The checkpoint received funding from a grant awarded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
