On December 17, 2025, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team and the Rancho Mirage Problem-Oriented Policing Team, working with the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, carried out a targeted public safety enforcement operation in the area around the 71000 block of San Jacinto Drive in Rancho Mirage.
The operation was launched after several complaints from both the city of Rancho Mirage Code Enforcement Division and members of the public about ongoing illegal activity at a local park. The goal was to address concerns about quality of life and to keep the park safe for families and other visitors.
Two arrests were made during this operation. Eriberto Santana, a 45-year-old resident of Thousand Palms, was arrested for lewd and lascivious acts in public and booked at the John Benoit Detention Center. Kevin Winston, a 62-year-old resident of Rancho Mirage, was also arrested on similar charges and booked at the same facility.
According to officials: “The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to maintaining public safety and deterring criminal activity, particularly in community spaces intended for families, children, and recreational use. These enforcement operations are conducted to preserve the quality of life for residents and visitors throughout Rancho Mirage and the greater Coachella Valley.”
Authorities encourage anyone with information about criminal activity in public spaces to contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. For details related to this case specifically, Deputy Nicholas Cazee can be reached at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station at (760) 836–1600.
