The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Jurupa Valley Station, Norco Sub-Station will hold a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) checkpoint in the City of Norco on December 19, 2025. The operation is scheduled to take place from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM at an undisclosed location.
According to the department, DUI checkpoint sites are selected based on data related to impaired driving crashes. The main goal is to enhance public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Deputy Armenta. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
The sheriff’s office also noted that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from some prescription and over-the-counter medications. While marijuana use—both medicinal and recreational—is legal in California, driving under its influence remains illegal.
First-time DUI offenders typically face fines and penalties averaging $13,500 as well as a suspended driver’s license.
Funding for this checkpoint program comes from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
