The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Jurupa Valley Station has announced that a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) checkpoint will take place on February 20, 2026. The checkpoint will be held from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM at an undisclosed location in the City of Jurupa Valley.
According to officials, locations for DUI checkpoints are selected based on data indicating where impaired driving-related crashes have occurred. The main goal of these checkpoints is to improve public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Deputy Schwartz. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
The sheriff’s office also reminded the public that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from certain prescription and over-the-counter medications. Although marijuana is legal for medicinal and recreational use in California, driving under its influence remains illegal.
Individuals convicted of a first-time DUI offense may face average costs of $13,500 in fines and penalties and could have their license suspended.
This program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
