The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Jurupa Valley Station plans to conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) checkpoint in Eastvale, California, on December 19, 2025. The operation will run from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM at a location that has not been disclosed.
Checkpoint sites are chosen based on data about impaired driving-related crashes. The goal of these checkpoints is to increase public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the roads.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Deputy Armenta said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
The Sheriff’s Office also notes that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from certain prescription and over-the-counter medications. While marijuana use is legal for both medicinal and recreational purposes in California, driving under its influence remains illegal.
A first-time DUI offense may result in fines and penalties averaging $13,500 and a suspended driver’s license.
This program receives funding through a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, with support from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
