The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has announced that it will conduct driving under the influence (DUI) patrols in Eastvale, California on January 9, 2026. The operation is scheduled to run from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with deputies focusing on identifying drivers suspected of impaired driving.

“Impaired driving is preventable,” said Deputy Vawter. “It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places.”

The sheriff’s office emphasizes that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from certain prescription and over-the-counter medications. The public is advised to read warning labels and follow usage directions carefully, as some substances may affect the ability to drive safely. Additionally, while marijuana use is legal for both medicinal and recreational purposes in California, driving under its influence remains illegal.

Individuals caught driving under the influence for the first time could face fines and penalties averaging $13,500 and may have their licenses suspended.

Funding for this enforcement effort comes from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
