More than $67 million in federal funding has been allocated to projects across Riverside County, following the passage of an appropriations package by the House of Representatives and its signing into law by President Trump. Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) secured these funds through the Community Project Funding process for various infrastructure, water, and transportation initiatives in California’s 41st Congressional District.

Among the projects receiving support are road improvements, water quality upgrades, airport infrastructure enhancements, and other community-focused efforts. The funded projects include $4 million for widening Magnolia Avenue in Corona, $8 million for improving water quality at Lake Elsinore, $5 million for a new control tower at French Valley Airport, and several other initiatives throughout cities such as Norco, Menifee, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, La Quinta, and Indian Wells.

Local officials expressed appreciation for Calvert’s role in securing these investments. Corona Vice Mayor Wes Speake stated: “The City of Corona appreciates Congressman Calvert’s leadership in securing federal appropriations for two high-priority infrastructure projects that align with local and regional mobility goals. Investments for the Magnolia Widening Project and Trails Improvement Project will close important multimodal gaps and expand access to trails, parks, and regional destinations—improving safety, mobility, and strengthening the quality of life for Corona residents.”

Lake Elsinore Mayor Robert E. Magee highlighted the importance of environmental improvements: “On behalf of the City of Lake Elsinore, my colleagues and I would like to thank Congressman Ken Calvert and his office for securing this critical funding for the Lake Elsinore Water Quality Project. This funding will help augment the council’s substantial financial commitment to the Nanobubbler systems we have deployed across the lake. A cleaner, healthier lake strengthens lake Elsinore, our tourism, supports local businesses, and drives Lake Elsinore’s economic viability while enhancing the quality of life for our residents. This investment is not just about water quality—it’s about the future of Lake Elsinore and ensuring our city continues to grow, thrive, and remain a destination we are proud to call home.”

Norco Mayor Robin Grundmeyer commented on efforts toward sustainability: “Water conservation is an increasingly critical issue in California, and the City of Norco has proactively taken steps to address this challenge and implement recycled water infrastructure. The federal funding secured for this project will significantly aid our efforts to construct a reclaimed water pump system, build a storage reservoir, and complete essential system improvements… We appreciate Representative Calvert’s unwavering support for this project and his diligent efforts to secure this vital federal investment for Horsetown USA.”

Other city leaders echoed similar sentiments regarding transportation projects aimed at reducing congestion or improving safety.

Congressman Ken Calvert has represented California’s 41st District since 1993 (https://calvert.house.gov/about). He was born in Corona in 1953 where he currently resides (https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/C000059). He earned a BA from San Diego State University in 1975.

Additional comments from officials across Riverside County emphasized gratitude toward Rep. Calvert’s advocacy on behalf of their communities:

“Thank you to Representative Calvert for securing $5 million for RCTC’s 15 Express Lanes Project Southern Extension,” said RCTC Chair Raymond Gregory.

“We appreciate Congressman Calvert’s continued commitment… The Scott Road/Bundy Canyon Widening Project will provide significant improvements…” said Acting Menifee Mayor Bob Karwin.

“Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is grateful…for securing $5 million in federal funding…a critical wastewater project…” said EMWD Board President Stephen Corona.

“This $5 million federal investment is a major step forward for French Valley Airport…” said Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington.

Further statements were issued by leaders from Calimesa (Mayor Jeff Cervantez), Palm Springs (Mayor Naomi Soto), Rancho Mirage (Mayor Lynn Mallotto), Palm Desert (Mayor Evan Trubee), La Quinta (Mayor Linda Evans), Indian Wells (Mayor Dr. Toper Taylor), among others—all noting how these investments will benefit their respective communities’ infrastructure needs or economic growth plans.
