Congressman Ken Calvert announced on May 14 that he has secured $3.8 million in Community Project Funding for two public safety initiatives in California’s 41st Congressional District. The funding was included in the Fiscal Year 2027 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies bill advanced by the House Appropriations Committee.

The allocation includes $2,815,000 for the City of Corona Police Department’s Real Time Information Center Enhancement Project and $1,000,000 to establish the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Real Time Intelligence Center East Project in Palm Desert. The Corona project will expand security camera coverage throughout the city and upgrade software and operator workstations. The Riverside County project will transition a part-time pilot into a fully operational facility with high-performance workstations and updated technology.

“Now, more than ever, it’s critical for our law enforcement personnel to have situational awareness and real time information to better serve and protect our communities,” said Rep. Calvert. “By working together with the Corona Police Department and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, I have been able to secure funding for projects that will improve public safety and keep the families I represent safe.”

Corona Vice Mayor Wes Speake said: “Congressman Calvert has always stepped up for Corona, and this is another example. The $2.8 million for our Real Time Information Center gives our officers the tools they need to stay safe and keep our community safe. We appreciate the Congressman’s continued commitment to bringing resources home and supporting the people who serve on the front line every day.” Corona Police Chief Robert Newman added: “The City of Corona thanks Congressman Calvert for his strong leadership and commitment to funding transformative technologies that enhance public safety and reflect the very best of public service… Congressman Calvert is helping build a safer, more secure future for the citizens of Corona and its region.”

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office also issued a statement: “The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is grateful to Congressman Ken Calvert for his continued support of public safety… The proposed funding … will help us continue building a modern public safety infrastructure focused on crime reduction, rapid response, and real-time information sharing… Under the leadership of Sheriff Chad Bianco… The development of RTIC represents a major step forward in leveraging technology…”

In addition to these local projects, other priorities included in Rep. Calvert’s bill are $108 million for Missing and Exploited Children Program (an increase over last year), $13.5 million toward anti-methamphetamine efforts, as well as support for regional information sharing activities among law enforcement agencies.

Ken Calvert has served in Congress representing California’s 41st District since 1993; he was born in Corona in 1953 where he currently resides according to Biographical Directory of U.S Congress. He graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree according to Biographical Directory of U.S Congress.
