Mark Takano, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 39th district since 2013, posted several comments on social media in September 2025 criticizing former President Donald Trump and Republican leadership regarding crime and economic inequality.

On September 9, Takano questioned Trump’s stance on domestic violence, writing, “Friend of Epstein, Donald Trump, is ‘tough on crime’ unless it’s domestic violence? More than 700 women are shot to death by intimate partners each year. Domestic violence is a crime and should be treated as such.”

Later that day, he addressed economic disparities in the United States with another post: “1 in 10 Americas are living in poverty. Trump gets: $5 billion in crypto deals, a $400 million plane, millions in deals from Facebook, Amazon, CBS. The ‘Golden Age’ was never for real Americans, it was only for Trump.” On September 10, Takano added: “There is a Golden Age in America, but just for Republicans and Trump at the White House.”

Takano has represented California’s 39th District since replacing Jerry Lewis in Congress in 2013. Born and residing in Riverside, California since his birth in 1960 at age 62, Takano holds a BA from Harvard University earned in 1983.
