Mark Takano, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 39th district since 2013, has expressed his views on recent political issues through a series of tweets. Takano, who was born in Riverside, California in 1960 and graduated from Harvard University in 1983, continues to advocate for his constituents with a focus on healthcare and veterans’ rights.

On July 2, 2025, Takano posted a tweet urging Republicans to prioritize their constituents over wealthy individuals. He stated, “All I’m asking is for Republicans to work as hard for their constituents as they do for billionaires.”

The following day, on July 3, 2025, he criticized Republican efforts regarding healthcare policy. In his tweet, he claimed that “Republicans want to strip 17 million Americans of health insurance and give those funds for more masked agents and inhumane detention centers.”

Later that same day, Takano addressed the treatment of veterans by the Republican party. He tweeted about the impact of certain policies on veterans’ welfare: “Veterans served our country, and how are Republicans repaying them? They’re taking food off their plates, and they’re taking away their healthcare.”

Mark Takano has been an active voice in Congress since replacing Jerry Lewis in 2013. His comments reflect ongoing debates about healthcare funding and veteran support within U.S. politics.
