Mark Takano, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 39th district since 2013, addressed several national issues on his social media account over three consecutive days in December 2025.
On December 15, Takano commented on recent incidents of gun violence, stating: “This past weekend saw two terrible acts of mass gun violence. The anti-Semitic terrorist attack at Bondi Beach and the school shooting at Brown University took the lives of innocent people, injured many others, and devastated their families, friends, and communities. I am deeply”.
The following day, December 16, he criticized actions by political figures regarding federal education policy: “Trump and McMahon are trying to illegally shut down the Department of Education. I called out their scheme on the House floor because students would pay the price.”
On December 17, Takano focused on healthcare policy proposals from Republican lawmakers: “The GOP healthcare plan is simple: driving up costs and stripping Americans of core protections.”
Takano has served in Congress since replacing Jerry Lewis in 2013. He was born in Riverside, California in 1960 and currently resides there. Takano earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University in 1983.
