Jurupa Valley authorities investigate fatal hit-and-run involving pedestrian

A fatal hit-and-run collision occurred in Jurupa Valley early on February 21, 2026. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded at 12:03 a.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck near Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Road.

Upon arrival, deputies found the pedestrian in the roadway with severe injuries. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that after striking the pedestrian, the vehicle involved left the area before law enforcement arrived. Despite searching nearby areas, deputies were unable to locate the suspect vehicle, which has been described as an unknown-colored sedan with significant front-end damage.

The Traffic Reconstruction Team from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station is leading the investigation. The cause of the incident remains under review, and it is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members.

Van Buren Boulevard between Jurupa Road and Limonite Avenue was temporarily closed while investigators processed evidence at the scene.
