Today, the House of Representatives approved a funding package with a narrow bipartisan majority of 217 to 214. The legislation includes appropriations for Defense; Labor, Health and Human Services, Education; and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development. It also provides a short-term extension of funding for the Department of Homeland Security.

Congressman Ken Calvert supported the measure. “The funding package approved by the House today and signed into law by President Trump puts an end to the current shutdown,” said Rep. Calvert. “The passage of my FY26 Defense Appropriations bill, which was included in the package, will provide our troops with critical resources to keep America safe as well as a much-deserved pay raise. It also advances my priorities as Defense Appropriations Chairman, including funding programs that leverage American innovation, establishing a new Civil Reserve Manufacturing Network, and investing in National Guard counter-drug programs. The resources provided for Riverside County projects in this bill will help communities throughout our region. I look forward to our continued work together to advance these critical projects.”

Ken Calvert has represented California’s 41st District in Congress since 1993 (https://calvert.house.gov/about). He was born in Corona, California in 1953 and continues to reside there at age 69. Calvert earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University in 1975.

The legislation contains $67 million secured by Rep. Calvert for community project funding across Riverside County.
