A 36-year-old man from Thermal, California, has died following an incident on Van Buren Street south of Avenue 54 in Thermal. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Claudio Hernandez Martinez.
According to the coroner’s report, Hernandez Martinez sustained his injuries at approximately 11:13 p.m. on January 23, 2026. He was pronounced dead five minutes later at the same location.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Indio is handling the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. The agency has assigned case number 260123IC0167 to this incident.
Authorities have notified next of kin. The coroner’s office directed all further inquiries regarding this case to CHP Indio.
