Death of Brent Hoquist under investigation after incident in Riverside

Brent Hoquist, a 35-year-old man from Corona, California, died on January 7, 2026. According to information released by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau, Hoquist was injured at approximately 5:00 p.m. and pronounced dead at 5:11 p.m. The incident occurred on the roadway at Van Buren Boulevard and Gardner Avenue in Riverside.

The California Highway Patrol – Riverside is conducting the investigation into the circumstances of Hoquist’s death. The coroner has notified his next of kin.

“For additional information please refer to investigating agency,” stated the release from the coroner’s office.
