Bakersfield man dies after incident; police investigate circumstances

A 73-year-old man from Bakersfield, identified as Anthony Acosta, died following an incident that occurred on December 12, 2025. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s report, Acosta was injured at approximately 6:56 p.m. on the roadway of H Street, about 26 feet south of 10th Street in Bakersfield.

Acosta was transported to Riverside Community Hospital located at 4445 Magnolia Avenue in Riverside, where he was pronounced dead at 7:51 a.m. on December 12. The Bakersfield Police Department is conducting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his injury and subsequent death.

The coroner’s office has notified Acosta’s next of kin. The case is being handled under investigation number 25205616 by the Bakersfield Police Department. The coroner’s press release stated: “For additional information please refer to investigating agency.”
